Mediation Style:
Ms. Grossman's extensive courtroom experience enables her to communicate the risks of trial to mediation participants and help participants consider the strengths and weaknesses of their respective positions. She appreciates that domestic relations cases take an emotional toll on the individuals involved and enjoys helping parties reach satisfactory settlements.
Suggested Preparation for Mediation:
Ms. Grossman believes that parties should bring any papers to mediation that they think the other side may need to see, for example, recent 401k or IRA or investment statements. Pre-mediation briefs can be helpful in a complex financial or complicated factual case but they are not necessary. Opening statements at mediation usually can clarify the issues and positions.
Successful Results:
When Nancy Grossman helped one spouse who did not want the divorce realize it was going to happen regardless of her feelings for her husband, that spouse could then focus on getting what was really important to her.
